Biography

I have been working with clay since 1998, and credit a friend for introducing this art medium to me. At the time I had designed a line of greeting cards and my friend commented how much she liked the images I produced but as nice as they were "they all end up in the garbage" and suggested I consider using my creative skills with something that would have more lasting value. Made sense to me. I've been hooked ever since!

What I like most about working with clay is the limitlessness variations that are available, and how what I create has the potential to remain here long after I am gone.... maybe one day there will be shards of my work unearthed in some future excavation!

I have recently relocated my pottery operations to West Seattle and am working as a resident artist at Mutablefire Studios, which is part of a larger art-collective that occupies an entire 3-story former schoolhouse. I am happy to be working with this talented group of artists, and while we all work in independent private studios, there is an unmistakable creative environment that I enjoy being a part of.

The art collective is called "The Building," and being a part of the West Seattle Art Walk each month (second Thursdays), many of the artists open their working studios to show their most recent creations.

I like to see my art as expressing through shape and color my inner spirit of joyfulness, peacefulness, and hope.

It is a joy—and honor—to know my pottery is being used and/or displayed in the homes of my customers. I really enjoy the satisfaction that comes from expressing myself in this medium.
